Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s most daunting plays, and not just because of its heady content: some believe the play itself is cursed. The play inspires so much apprehension that even the most seasoned of acting companies refuse to speak its name in the theatre. So what happens when a group of elementary school students from Brooklyn, NY decide to stage their own production of Macbeth? This film takes viewers behind the scenes as the student actors draw links between their characters’ emotions and their own, creating a testament to the critical role of arts education in early development. mcbfilm.com
